Knee injury
Scott has injured his knees four times in the last three years. His injuries were always followed up by traditional therapy. After therapy was done Scott was able to function with every day activities excluding sports. His past history has proven this fact. After traditional therapy Scott would re-injure the same knee almost immediately. I started to notice a pattern I was not happy with. Injury – traditional therapy –injury again. I talked to Dr. Sangimino and asked “What can we do?” “What options do we have?” He recommended Dan Glatz. I contacted Dan and made an appointment. Since Scott has been working with Dan on issues along with his knee we have seen dramatic improvements. Scott’s knee is strengthening and he now is starting to do activities that he couldn’t do before. Our goal is to strengthen Scott’s knee to avoid surgery and able him to do sports in the future without another knee injury. Dan is steps beyond traditional therapy. He has Scott doing exercises that other therapist hadn’t. Injured athletes need to be totally healed before re-entering into sports again. Over the years Scott is living proof that traditional therapy alone does not allow that to happen.

I feel that David was very fortunate to have had a great team of people involved with his rehab. From Dr. Bradley, Jay Lemke and you he had people that were dedicated to helping him recover. Your program that you put him through helped to strengthen his knee and prepared him to get to the next level. He did things that he was never able to do before working with you. Your workouts while difficult were never boring or mundane which helped keep David focused on getting stronger. I attribute these workouts and his work ethic a testimony to why he is now playing at Duquesne University. I may even go so far as to say that had we met you before his injury it may never have happened. I will continue to refer people to you as I believe you are capable, caring and passionate about your profession.

ACL recovery
Dan has helped my son mentally get back into the game of basketball and not focus on his torn ACL. Dan has the ability to help the student overcome the fear of reinjuring the area that has been damaged and focus on the mental and physical part of recovery. His methods of training are a step past and above the physical therapy that my son went through (for his ACL surgery). What Dan has to offer a student recovering from this type of accident in the period of time he works with him is tremendous. It’s hard to believe Dan has brought his confidence level back this fast. What he has been able to offer is worth more than I can thank him for giving my son!

After finishing traditional physical therapy for my reconstructed ACL, I started to go to Performance UNLIMITED. After working with Dan for a couple of months, I was able to return to soccer, just six months after having my surgery. When I first started there, my quad muscles had half the strength that it should have had but by the end it was strong enough for me to be able to play soccer. Dan not only helped me with strengthening my leg, he also showed me new ways to run and turn so that my knee would be protected. This program was great for me. There were many exercises that I would never have thought of doing on my own. Dan was also very supportive and was always challenging me with new exercises. There is no way that I would have been able to return to soccer so soon, without going to Performance UNLIMITED!

From "recovery" to "competitive edge"
Dan, I wanted to write and tell you how much my son Sean and I appreciated your services. I was going to tell our story so you can use it as a testimonial:

My son Sean, now a senior at North Hills HS tore his ACL the first game of the season last year. He was crushed and saw potentially the rest of his high school days not playing sports. We were referred to Dr. Bradley who deals primarily with athletes and is aggressive in trying to get them back to normal quickly. The operation went well and Sean went through rehab at Panther Rehab who did a great job in getting Sean healthy. Toward the end of rehab they mentioned they can get his knee healthy but to get him “game ready” is an another matter. They and several other people mentioned a physical trainer who specializes in getting post operatitive athletes, back to a competitive condition. I was somewhat reluctant because it was quite a long way from our house and the fact that Sean had just done rehab for 6 months was already exhausting family resources. But I also knew that if Sean had any chance to make the team he had to get back confidence in his knee quickly because it was now August and the team was already essentially picked from guys that played all summer.

This is when we contacted Dan Glatz, who came with glowing recommendations. The first thing Dan did was just talk about the injury and what Sean wanted to accomplish. He also stated his expectations and the informal contract and commitment between Dan and Sean to really attack this together. Interestingly he studied an old pair of game sneakers that Sean had and said he could tell how Sean damaged his knee in the game just by looking at the wear on the sneakers. He could also tell that he turned his knees in when shooting (all of which was true).

Dan suggested a regime of unusual exercises and training that was specific to Sean’s injury and sport (basketball). Additionally Dan started to tear down everything Sean did and tried to eliminate some bad habits Sean was used to doing and started to rebuild from scratch his balance, speed, vertical leaping, cutting and strength, his initial acceleration, and most of all, restoring Sean’s confidence in his knee and his ability to return Quad A HS level basketball. Dan used a very different approach and unique methods that continually left Sean feeling better about his chances of making the team and returning to basketball. He also spent quite a bit of time working with Sean’s psyche which he really needed.
After one of the first sessions I wondered what Sean felt about the progress and he told me if I was not going to fund his visits to Dan that he would pay Dan out of his own money. This convinced me of the progress and the commitment that Sean was willing to make.
The good news after 3 months of training with Dan –Sean made the team and accomplished one of his goals and is continually getting stronger and better and is seeing increased playing time. Maybe the best part of this is that Sean relays a story at practice where the head coach is yelling at Sean about a play they installed last year. He chastised Sean for not remembering it, and Sean said “but coach I was not here last year –remember I was injured.” Best compliment that Sean is back to normal.

Thanks again Dan for the great training and restoring Sean confidence in his ability to return.
By the way, Sean misses your discussions about music and life in general.
Sincerely,
John T., Proud Father

Post-accident rehabilitation
Dan- I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for the excellent job you did in helping Kaitlyn recover from her auto accident and return to competitive sports. After sustaining multiple internal injuries, several broken bones and 6 surgeries leaving her confined to a wheelchair and hospital for several months, I never expected her to return to competitive soccer.

Traditional physical therapy helped her get back to regular daily activity, but left her well short of ever competing at the high level she was used to. The results of her injuries left her completely unable to run. I was truly impressed with the way in which you were able to break down the running steps including the start, the mid-field run and stops/turns. Not only were you successful in building her physical capabilities, but you also recognized the mental issues that held her back. I know she appreciated the “bench talks” you two had to help her deal with the pain and disappointments that she experienced along the way. After re-teaching her how to run, she not only returned to soccer, but ran track for Mars High School for the first time and lettered.

Once again, I want to thank you for a job well done and wish you continued success.

Full recovery plus improved performance
His confidence has quickly improved and his performance level has substantial improved after a few visits. I can’t believe he can jump up onto a 42 inch box!!!!!!! Unbelievable! He just started back playing with his team a week ago and he’s doing very well!!
- Wendy T.

Worth the drive
We do love your program - we are always "bragging on you", and I know the others do too - maybe you need to open a West Virginia satellite office!

Benefits beyond sports
Just wanted to share our thoughts with you about you and your program. We almost made a big mistake by not coming to see you once our son’s knee injury had healed. We are lucky, and still look forward to our trips to Evans City.

Sal has always been a good athlete but you showed us that being an athletic is not always enough. Sal plays two varsity sports. Your rigid one-hour generalized workouts have improved his strength, balance, speed, and agility, enabling him to be successful as the high school’s starting point guard and the starting quarterback.

He can jump higher, throw stronger and with more accuracy, start and stop in an instant, and run a 4.56 - 40. His endurance is much improved and even his eating habits have changed to a healthier diet.

He is performing much better on the basketball court and on the football field thanks to you and your program. We are so proud of him and thank you for all that you have done.
- Cris and Lisa C.

Personal commitment
I just wanted to really say thanks again for the session tonight, it's really unbelievable how much I learned in just that short period of time!!! & I truly appreciate you taking the time to help me out. I assure you that I will be using all of my newly acquired knowledge to work hard & improve before I see you again.

Overcoming childhood illness
Dan -
Diana and I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the outstanding performance training you provided to our son Steven.

As you know, Steven received a traumatic injury during a youth soccer game when he was 8 years old and was diagnosed with Legg Calve Perthes disease. This disease is caused by the interruption of the blood supply to the head of the femur, which caused the head of the bone to die. The surgical intervention prescribed by the Head of Orthopedics Surgery at UPMC Children’s Hospital was to surgically rotate the hipbone out about 25 degrees, surgically place the femur back into the hipbone, and then insert a metal “L” shaped plate and screws into his femur and hipbone to hold the bones into place, which would permit the femur to regenerate at the proper angle.

This is a difficult injury for any athlete to overcome; however, this did not stop Steven from doing everything he could to nearly fully recover. Following his multiple hip surgeries at age 8 and 9, where the hardware was inserted and then removed, Steven began his rehabilitation and Performance UNLIMITED training.

Through your help and that of his medical staff, Steven has recovered to normal activity and he has been selected to play soccer for the Pennsylvania West Soccer 12-year old Olympic Development Program (ODP) team and to tryout for the Northeast Region ODP Team, which is the final step to be selected to the National Team. This is an impressive accomplishment in itself, but considering he plays 1-year up and his deformity his performance is even more impressive.

Dan, we owe much of Steven’s success to your training and counseling. Not only has Steven improved his performance and strength through your training, but you helped him improve his mental attitude. For example, Steven’s 30-yard dash improved about 10% from 6.6 to 6.2 seconds. However, what is most encouraging for us is the work you did with Steven’s attitude and mental focus. Unfortunately, when things do not go well for Steven he harbors this thought, which can be counterproductive to a high-level athlete. Now Steven understands this limitation and by asking himself proper questions he can more quickly re-focus his mental approach and he can actually use this knowledge as an “in-game” weapon.

Dan, thanks for everything you did for our son. You are a true professional who is a top-flight trainer and we look forward to many more Performance UNLIMITED training sessions!
- Chip M.
